According to The Hollywood Reporter there are several movie studios that are currently in a bidding war and they’re bidding on the rights to make a live action Pokemon film. The report says that Legendary, Warner Bros. and Sony are all interested in acquiring the rights to bring the project to life.

The rights to the property are managed by a company called The Pokemon Co. and they were the ones that reached out to Hollywood to see if a deal could be made. They’ve reportedly been holding a top secret bidding war. Out of Warner Bros., Legendary and Sony, Legendary seems to be the frontrunner to acquire the rights.

Pokemon fever is still going strong and the games still have a very dedicated fanbase. Video game movies haven’t been very successful in the past, but that’s because they haven’t been handled very well. There are a lot of stories to be told in the Pokemon universe, and if handled correctly, Pokemon could potentially become one of the hottest film franchises on the planet.

It’s safe to say that there are many people that would love to see this happen. The games have sold millions of copies, the animated movies have made millions of dollars and there are still plenty of people out there trying to catch ’em all.
