We’re only a few weeks away from the release of “Fantastic Four” and it’s hard to believe how long its been since the new cast was announced. The new cast has been official for quite some time now but still a portion of the fans are outraged over the fact that Michael B. Jordan was cast as the Human Torch.
Stan Lee doesn’t share their anger though as he fully supports the casting.
“I thought it was a great idea!” Lee told EW.
“They’re outraged because they hate to see any change made on a series and characters they had gotten familiar with. In Spider-Man, when they got a new actor, that bothered them, even though it was a white actor. I don’t think it had to do with racial prejudice as much as they don’t like things changed.” he continued.
He also took a second to point out that it was always a goal of his to make sure that his comic books featured a diverse cast of characters.
“I think they’re gonna get to love this character. So I’m not the least bit worried about it. I always tried to pepper these groups with as much racial diversity as possible because that’s the way the world is.”
“Fantastic Four” will hit theaters on August 7th.
