By the time “Arrow” season 4 ended Oliver and Felicity had also ended their relationship, and now Olicity is no longer a thing.
The Olicity pairing received strong reactions from “Arrow” fans as some people seem to enjoy it, while others just don’t. Either way, it doesn’t sound like the Olicity factor is something that fans are going to have to worry about for a while. Producer Wendy Mericle recently spoke to TV Line, and she explained that Oliver and Felicity will be focused on themselves when the show returns for season 5.
“They’re both in crisis mode. Oliver’s got two really big jobs, and [Felicity] is spinning out about Havenrock,” Mericle said. “Until they’ve gotten some clarity for themselves, there’s not much room for the relationship side of things.”
It appears that “Arrow” will be getting back to basics this year as Mericle also said that Oliver will be the focus for the first nine episodes of the new season.
This year the big villain will be Prometheus and according to Mericle the villain will present a “very personal” threat. Back in June she revealed to TV Guide that the villain is someone that Oliver unknowingly created.
“Arrow” will return for season 5 on Wednesday, October 5.
