Fans were thrilled when it was announced that Jon Bernthal would be playing The Punisher in “Daredevil” season 2. The Punisher’s return to the screen has been a long time coming and it seems that Bernthal is the perfect choice to bring Frank Castle to life. A Punisher solo series is another thing that’s been on the minds of the fans with many wondering if that’s something that could be coming in the future.
Chief Content Officer for Netflix Ted Sarandos recently spoke to IGN and said that a Punisher solo series is something that could happen.
“It is possible for sure. That’s the beauty of the Marvel universe. Any of them could spin out into films too.” Sarandos said.
He also talked a little bit about what to expect from the upcoming Defenders series.
“I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you’ll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group. And then they’ll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we’ve launched the first season of each of the four characters.” Sarandos added.
“Daredevil” season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
