The “Marvel vs. Capcom” series is loved by fans all around the world but unfortunately it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing another entry anytime soon. The last entry in the franchise was released in 2011 and Capcom’s license with Marvel expired a few years ago.
Marvel Games recently announced that they’ll be releasing a gorgeous looking Spider-Man game for the PS4 next year, and they also said that they have many more games on the way. Fans immediately began to wonder if we could be seeing another “Marvel vs. Capcom” title in the future and Marvel Games President Jay Ong recently told Polygon that he knows fans want another one.
“There’s nothing we can say at this time,” Ong told Polygon. “Let’s just say that we hear that a lot. We love our fans and we certainly want to please them. Beyond that we can’t say anything at this time. But who knows what the future holds?”
Whatever the hang up is let’s hope it gets worked out sooner than later because a fresh “Marvel vs. Capcom” game would look great on current gen consoles. Unfortunately since Capcom’s license expired they’re not even able to release any updates for “Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.”
Marvel may not have much to say about Capcom at the moment, but they are working with Insomniac Games and Telltale Games on new titles. It would be great if we get another “Marvel vs. Capcom” title in the near future, but either way we’re getting more Marvel games and that’s good news.
