Buzzfeed got their hands on a clip from Daisy Ridley’s audition for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and it is a little crazy. It shows how Daisy won the role by delivering a very emotional take on one of the movie’s most important scenes.
J.J. Abrams asked Daisy to read the scene where Kylo Ren forces his way into Rey’s mind and tries to read her thoughts. It was a pivotal scene in the movie for Rey because she discovered her true power. Ridley went all out for the reading and jumped right into an emotional state. She turned on the water works to show the mental anguish that Rey was going through and she portrayed her inner struggle perfectly. Abrams revealed that the performance was enough to win him over.
“She just blew my mind. She’s reaching this depth of struggle, and tears are streaming down her face. I thought, ‘This is unbelievable.’” Abrams said.

Abrams added that he knew he needed someone new for the role and that it was tough to find someone who could do everything that was needed to nail the character.
“What we were looking for was someone new. This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified. And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking. It wasn’t until we found Daisy that we just felt like she was capable of doing all of these things this character required.”
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be released on digital April and Blu-Ray on April 5.
