“Supergirl” made its big move to the CW in the fall season of 2016, and so far season 2 has been well received by fans and critics alike. To kick off “Supergirl” season 2, the CW added a little extra star power in the form of Superman who was played by Tyler Hoechlin in the first two episodes of the season.

Superman didn’t stick around very long, but viewers seemed to enjoy Tyler Hoechlin’s portrayal. With Geoff Johns recently announcing that a new DC TV show is in the works, some fans have been hopeful that we man see a Superman spinoff, but according to CW President Mark Pedowitz there are no plans in place to make it happen at the moment.

“Tyler did a great job,” Pedowitz noted at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Sunday. “There’s no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to Supergirl]. If they wish to have him return, we’d love to have him.”

There are no plans in place for a Superman spinoff at the moment, but the idea hasn’t been ruled out. “Supergirl” executive producer Greg Berlanti was also asked about a potential spinoff, and while he stressed that there’s nothing in the plans right now, Berlanti noted that all things are possible.

We’d love to have Tyler back, he’s amazing, he was great in the role. In success, I think all those things are possible. I’m always the guy who says ‘yes’ if there seems to be an appetite for it and the people involved are really nice.”

“Supergirl” will return with new episodes on January 23.
