“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is still crushing it at the box office and it continues to get rave reviews from fans and critics alike. However there are some fans that aren’t very happy about the fact that the franchise is no longer under the control of George Lucas. These fans have created a petition hoping they can start a movement to bring George Lucas back to the franchise for Episode IX.

Of course Episode IX is already set to be directed by “Jurassic World” director Colin Trevorrow. Trevorrow recently spoke to ET and he weighed in on the controversy and you can see what he had to say below.

“It’s funny, I saw that, and it was on a day where I was at LucasFilm giving this big speech to everyone about how we want to channel the invention and just the raw creativity and the boldness that George brought to these films and not being afraid that we’re going to embarrass ourselves by doing something that might be crazy. When George Lucas made Star Wars, a lot of people thought it was crazy,” he said. “When you try to pitch what that movie’s about — if you’ve never heard ofStar Wars before, you say, ‘Here’s a character. His father’s part robot, but he can also do magic. And there’s a guy who can fly in a spaceship. He’s got a dog for a friend!’ — it sounds insane.” Trevorrow said.

He then went on to emphasize that he will be embracing the spirit of George’s films.

“But it’s the greatest story ever told. I just want to embrace that kind of invention and creativity that he brought to it.” he added.
