The cat’s out of the bag. Kevin Feige recently let the title slip for the next “Guardians of the Galaxy” while talking to Collider.
“We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016.” Feige said without thinking.
James Gunn later confirmed the title on Twitter.

So there you have it folks. The official title will be “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” which seems to go along with the theme of Star-Lord’s “Awesome Mix Vol. 1.” The film is said involve less characters this time around and will dive deeper into Star-Lord’s backstory and his father will be revealed in the film.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will hit theaters May 5, 2017.
