Last year “The Fate of the Furious” cleaned up at the box office, but the film was getting a lot of media attention due to the tension between Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel.
The Rock recently spoke to Rolling Stone about their feud, and he said that after some discussions, they came to the conclusion that they have very different philosophies when it comes to making movies.
“Vin and I had a few discussions, including an important face-to-face in my trailer,” he says. “And what I came to realize is that we have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating. It took me some time, but I’m grateful for that clarity. Whether we work together again or not.”
It’s since been confirmed that The Rock and Jason Statham will be starring in their own Fast and Furious spinoff film, but the man behind Luke Hobbs isn’t quite sure if he’s going to return for “Fast and Furious 9.”
“I’m not quite sure,” he says. “Right now I’m concentrating on making the spinoff as good as it can be. But I wish him all the best, and I harbor no ill will there, just because of the clarity we have. Actually, you can erase that last part about ‘no ill will.’ We’ll just keep it with the clarity.”
As of right now “Fast and Furious 9” is set to be released on April 10, 2020.
