For months now reports have been circulating claiming Vin Diesel and The Rock didn’t get along on the set of “The Fate Of The Furious.”
Rock and Diesel reportedly argued on set, but in a recent interview with USA Today, Diesel downplayed rumors by noting that some arguments they may have had have been blown out of proportion.
“I don’t think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way,” said Diesel “I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don’t think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he’s Uncle Dwayne.”
However, there certainly seems to be tension between The Rock and Vin Diesel, as they’ve mostly avoided each other during the press tour for “The Fate Of The Furious” and Diesel reportedly nixed an electrifying scene starring The Rock and Jason Statham.
The Rock and Jason Statham reportedly filmed a scene together that was being described as a short “tag” to the story. The report from The Wrap notes that producer Neal Moritz filmed the scene without Diesel’s knowledge and when Diesel found out about it he became “enraged.”
“They had early screenings where Johnson and Statham popped so much on-screen together that they were looking at doing a spinoff,” one insider told The Wrap.
Representatives for the studio, Moritz, Diesel, Statham, and Johnson declined to comment on the report.
Last year The Rock got a lot of people talking when he posted a photo from “The Fate Of The Furious” set on Instagram calling out one of his co-stars.
“Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”
Although Diesel may be downplaying talk of internal strife between himself and The Rock, it certainly looks like there’s trouble in paradise.
“Fate Of The Furious” hits theaters on April 14th, 2017.
