It’s been no big secret that Loki had a scene in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” which was eventually cut. We all know about the deleted scene but what we didn’t know is why it was cut. Tom Hiddleston recently spoke to Deadline and told them that the scene was cut because it confused audiences. Apparently test audiences were getting the impression that Loki was controlling Ultron when Loki originally appeared in Thor’s dream sequence.
“I was part of the dream sequence for the character of Thor. I shot for a day, and I enjoyed it very much, and then I received a phone call from Kevin Feige who said, basically, in test screenings, audiences had sort of overemphasized Loki’s role. So they thought that because I was in it, I was controlling Ultron, and that it was actually imbalancing peoples’ expectations.” Huddleston explained.
It’s nice to finally know the reason, but unfortunate that certain audiences didn’t understand the scene and ended up depriving us of more Loki. Oh well, hopefully we’ll get our Loki fix in “Thor: Ragnarok.”
