Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is set to have a huge year in 2017, as “Spider-Man: Homecoming” will be released in July, and he’s also beenbusy shooting scenes for “Avengers: Infinity War.”

A few months ago Sony announced that plans to move forward with a Venom spinoff film, and fans were less than thrilled when it was announced that the movie would not be connected to the MCU. However, some casting news has surfaced online that should give fans hope.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tom Hardy is set to star in the upcoming Venom film. According to the report, Hardy is said to be a Venom fan, and he will be playing Eddie Brock in the movie.

“Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer is also in final negotiations to direct the film. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are set to produce.

The film is said to be one of Sony’s top priorities going forward, and there will most likely be more movement on the film soon as it has a release date of October 5th, 2018.

Tom Hardy is certainly no stranger to comic book films as he made Bane infamous in “The Dark Knight Rises” so it should be interesting to see what he does with Venom.
