It’s been months and months of rumors and speculation but it looks like the search for the new Han Solo may be coming to an end soon. It’s being reported by Deadline that Alden Ehrenreich is now the front-runner for the role.
The search had been narrowed down to Alden, Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, but Alden is now the favorite after he put on an impressive performance during recent screen tests. Alden Ehrenreich is 26 years old and he was considered to be one of the breakout performers in “Hail, Caesar!” last year.
The Han Solo standalone film is currently set for a 2018 release date and it’s being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The movie will focus on Han Solo’s early days before he got wrapped up in the Skywalker family drama.
Disney has yet to comment on any rumors regarding a possible casting for the role. Harrison Ford has vacated the role but now that Disney has opened up the timeline, it sounds like they have big plans for Han Solo in the future.
