A few weeks ago on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Robert Downey Jr. hinted that he might be making an appearance in “Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the deal has been finalized and Robert Downey Jr. has officially joined the cast.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be making his MCU debut in “Captain America: Civil War” and he will be personally recruited for Team Iron Man by Tony Stark himself. Tony Stark forms a mentor like relationship with Peter in “Civil War” and it looks like “Spider-Man: Homecoming” will explore that relationship even further.
Robert Downey Jr. renegotiated his contract with Marvel so that he could appear in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” It’s not known at this point if other negotiations took place because as of right now Downey Jr. is only signed on for both parts of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Homecoming.” Fans have been asking about “Iron Man 4” for years but Marvel has yet to announce any plans for another Iron Man standalone film.
You can catch Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. in “Captain America: Civil War” on May 6.
Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.
