It’s Official, Star Wars: Episode VIII Will Be Titled “The Last Jedi”

After months and months of rumors and speculation, the official title for “Star Wars: Episode VIII” has finally been revealed.  Lucasfilm confirmed today that the official title for the film will be “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will continue the Skywalker saga, and it is written and directed by Rian Johnson. Kathleen Kennedy, Ram Bergman, J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski are also attached to the film as producers.

Fans will be talking about the new title in the months to come, and ironically they were already talking about “The Last Jedi” a year ago.

Reddit user Trumundo started a “Star Wars: Episode VIII” title thread last year, and “The Last Jedi” was one of the titles they suggested based on a pattern fans figured out looking back on previous titles.

Judging from comments made by the cast and crew, it sounds like “The Last Jedi” will be darker and more character driven compared to its predecessor “The Force Awakens.”
