Saban’s Power Rangers reboot film is supposed to start filming in January and new casting announcements are being made every week. Now Collider has revealed some juicy details about the film and what fans can expect from the characters. Up until now most people assumed that Saban would be using the character names from the first season of the show but it appears that’s not the cast. The classic Zords are still in play but the characters are all new. You can check out their names below.
- Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus
- Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl
- Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops
- Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon
- Teyana Jones – The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-tooth Tiger
As far as the budget goes, it’s being reported that the budget for the film is $35 million dollars. Like the Collider report mentions, that budget might seem low, but a lot can be done with $35 million dollars when the actors don’t ask for huge salaries which appears to be the case here.
So far 4 out of the 5 main roles have been cast with Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger and Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger. The Yellow Ranger is the only main role that has yet to be cast.
“Power Rangers” is currently set for a January 2017 release date.
