The past 10 years have been a long, fun and winding road for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise launched in 2008 with “Iron Man” and in 2018 all of the events that have taken place so far will lead up to the highly anticipated “Avengers: Infinity War.”

In 2019 the yet to be officially titled “Avengers 4” will make its way to the big screen, and it’s been speculated that fans could be saying goodbye to some MCU fan favorites. Captain America and Iron Man are rumored to be on the chopping block, and everyone’s wondering where the MCU will go after “Avengers 4” is complete.

A few months ago Kevin Feige noted in an interview that even he’s not sure where the franchise is going after the untitled Avengers movie, but to be fair, even if he did know, he definitely wouldn’t tell us.

“Certainly as we get to Infinity War there is a sense of a climax if not a conclusion to, by the time we’re at untitled Avengers 4, the 22 movies that will have encompassed the first three phases of the MCU. And what happens after that will be very different. I don’t know if it’s Phase 4, it might be a new thing.”

A fan recently asked “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn about a possible reboot for the MCU, and he says that rumors of a reboot are not true, and the Guardians will carry on.

Another fan then followed up and asked if we would be seeing different Guardians, but Gunn stressed that’s not the case.

Where is the MCU going after “Avengers 4” is released in 2019? We’re all searching for answers, but as of right now the only thing we know for sure is that Spider-Man will be the one to usher in the next era of the MCU with the “Homecoming” sequel which is set to be released only 2 months after “Avengers 4.”
