Next year Fox is set to release 3 films set in the X-Men universe, and now it look like the film universe will be expanding once again, because Deadline reports that James Franco has been cast to star as James Madrox, aka Multiple Man in his own spinoff film.
Multiple Man is a mutant with the ability to duplicate himself, and the character appeared in the 2006 film “X-Men: The Last Stand” where he was played by Eric Dane.
Simon Kinberg and Genre Films along with James Franco and Ramona Films are set to produce. “Wonder Woman” writer Allan Heinberg is set to write the script for the film.
James Franco is no stranger to Marvel films as he previously played Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, but this will be Franco’s first Marvel film under the Fox banner.
Over the past few years Fox has made a big effort to expand the X-Men film universe and it looks like they have no plans on slowing down.
“The New Mutants” will kick off Fox’s Marvel release schedule next year with “Deadpool 2” and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” set to follow. Channing Tatum’s “Gambit” film is still in development, and it’s been rumored that a film focusing on X-Factor is in development as well.
