After X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn recently came out and said he had plans to recast Wolverine for X-Men: Days of Future Past, there’s been a lot of chatter about when the role might be recast. If Hugh Jackman’s recent interview with Cigar Aficionado is any indication, it won’t be any time soon.
Jackman mentioned how the recent film Birdman which features Michael Keaton playing a washed up actor who once played a famous superhero has inspired him to just keep going:
“I said to my wife, ‘The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I’ve got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.’ I know that someday they’ll recast the role with another actor…I’d be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic.” via E! Online.
It certainly isn’t going to break anyone’s heart if he continues with the role as he’s universally considered a perfect fit by the fans.
