Here’s Why The Arrow Season 5 Finale Is Going To Drive Fans Crazy

It’s been a great season for all of the DC shows on the CW, and over the next few weeks the shows will be pulling out all the stops as their respective seasons come to an end. It’s already been confirmed that “The Flash” season 3 will end with a big cliffhanger, and now it looks like “Arrow” season 5 will be doing something similar.

Deathstroke, Malcolm Merlyn, Thea Queen, Black Siren, Nyssa al Ghul, Talia al Ghul and Artemis will all be returning for the season finale, but it doesn’t sound like everyone will be making it out of the episode alive.

Showrunner Wendy Mericle recently spoke to CBR and talked about what fans can expect from the rest of the season. When she was asked if all the members of Team Arrow will be making it out of the season finale in one piece, she said, “That is a great question that will not be answered until Season 6.”

So, “The Flash” will keep us guessing until the fall, and now “Arrow” will be doing the same thing. From the sounds of it we’re going to have to spend the entire summer wondering whether or not certain members of Team Arrow have died, and that sounds a little nerve-racking to be perfectly honest.

One person who won’t be biting the bullet is Katie Cassidy’s Black Siren, as Cassidy has been confirmed for season 6 and she’ll be working as a series regular.

Mericle also talked about the return of Black Siren and she noted that the team’s emotional reaction to Laurel’s Earth-2 counterpart will be something to keep an eye on.

“What I love the most about Black Siren is seeing Katie Cassidy play a badass. [laughs] I mean, she was a badass before as Black Canary, but playing this other role with this darkness to it… it’s just a very interesting color for her to play, as she did Laurel, which she did an amazing job. She brings so much to this role, and it’s really seeing Katie really nail the ins and outs of this character. I think the other interesting thing about it and my favorite part is the impact that it has emotionally on the people who knew Laurel before she was unfortunately killed in Season 4. What does it mean to see this person who looks exactly like this person you loved and have them come back and be evil? It raises all kinds of questions for the people who knew her best, and that part is just absolutely rich character territory that we can play with and we’re really excited about doing that going forward.”

The “Arrow” season finale will air on the CW on Wednesday, May 24.
