You can put the rumors and speculation to rest because Marvel has finally cast an actor for the lead role in “Iron Fist.” Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Finn Jones will be playing Danny Rand when the show arrives on Netflix. “Game of Thrones” fans should recognize Jones as he plays Loras Tyrell on the show.
So far Marvel’s partnership with Netflix has gotten off to a great start. “Daredevil” is a hit, “Jessica Jones” is a hit and it looks like we should expect more of the same from “Luke Cage.” But Marvel’s “Iron Fist” has been surrounded by nothing but controversy.
It was rumored for a while that Marvel was dropping the Iron Fist series all together. Then it was rumored that the series was getting turned into a movie. Following all of that, there was a movement on social media where fans pushed for an Asian American actor to be cast in the role.
It’s been a rough road, but now we know that the series is happening and Finn Jones will be playing Danny Rand. The big question now is when will the series begin production? This is a question that still needs to be answered. But Marvel has just taken a huge step forward by casting an actor for the lead role.
Eventually Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist are set to team up for a Defenders series. The next release from for Marvel’s line of Netflix shows will come in the form of “Daredevil” season 2 which premieres on March 18, 2016.
