Fans From Russia Have Started A Petition To Change Spider-Man’s Voice For Future Marvel Movies

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man recently made his big MCU debut in “Captain America: Civil War” and his performance has received a lot of praise from fans and critics. But fans in Russia weren’t all that thrilled with Spider-Man’s voice in the film and they’ve started a petition in hopes that the voice will be changed.

According to the petition on Change.org, the number 1 problem that the fans have with Spidey is that they feel his voice makes him sound like a 10 year old. The petition makes it clear however that the fans don’t have a problem with Tom Holland, they simply have a problem with the Russian actor who did the overdubs and they don’t want him to return for future movies.

A rough translation of the description on the page reads as follows:

May 5 – the long-awaited day, which we Spidey fans, eagerly awaited, because it is a new version in the cinema! And … what is this a real slap in the face in the form of dubbing it ?! Perhaps there is no censorship in the Russian language words in order to describe the outrage of such a “voice”.

We demand from “Nevafilm”, which was engaged in dubbing the film, actor Vladimir Kanuhina replace the other, because they heard a voice in the new creations of Marvel we did not want!

We have no complaints about the actor dubbing, because it made directed to the voice acting, it was an incredible mistake. Again: to “return home” we want the actor has been replaced!

The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Neva, the company in charge of the dubbing, and according to them it was the voice actor’s first time doing dubbing work and his work was approved by the company.

As of this writing the petition has 202 of 1,500 signatures and if you would like to sign you can do so by clicking here.
