Beloved Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack on Friday while flying from London to LAX, and she was unfortunately pronounced dead this morning.
According to the statement issued by family spokesman Simon Halls on behalf of Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, Carrie passed away at 8:55am at the age of 60. The statement reads as follows:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly.”
Carrie Fisher is best known for her work as Princess Leia, and she recently returned to a galaxy far, far away for “The Force Awakens” and “Episode VIII” which has yet to be released. The Star Wars cast is reacting to the news, and Mark Hamill simply noted that he is devastated.

Carrie Fisher is well known for her acting work, but she also has some interesting writing credits to her name, and she recently released a book called “The Princess Diarist” where she opened up about her romantic relationship with Harrison Ford.
Fisher was one of a kind, and our condolences go out to her family, friends, and fans all over the world. It’s clear that she will be missed, and you can see some of the reactions from her peers below.
I'm deeply saddened at the news of Carrie's passing. She was a dear friend, whom I greatly respected and admired. The force is dark today!
