Sony has big plans to expand their Spider-Man film universe, and the plans have been met with a mixed response due to the fact that Spider-Man is currently part of the MCU. Regardless of how Spider-Man may or may not fit into the bigger picture in regards to the expanding film universe, it seems that Sony is serious about making this happen. After all, they cast Tom Hardy to play Eddie Brock in the Venom standalone film.

Hardy has been hard at work filming scenes for the upcoming movie, and slowly but surely photos from the set have been surfacing online. So far nothing all that juicy has made its way to the internet, but the official Venom Twitter account recently shared a behind the scenes photo showing Eddie Brock’s home.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but it’s rumored that the film will adapt the “Venom: Lethal Protector” storyline from the comics, although it seems unlikely at this point that Spider-Man will be appearing in the film.
“Venom” currently has a release date of October 5, 2018.
