We’re getting closer and closer to the release of Daredevil on Netflix and showrunner Steve DeKnight has been making doing a lot of interviews to promote the premiere. He recently made some comments about The Punisher possibly getting his own Netflix series that have caused quite a few ears to perk up.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the Punisher comics for years, I’d love to see him get his due on a platform like this. Nothing would delight me more than to see the Punisher get his own show and maybe we could convince Marvel to go Hard-R rating. If any character deserves an R rating, it’s the Punisher.” DeKnight told SciFiNow.
Not only is he hoping for The Punisher to get his own show, he also mentions that he would love to see it get an R rating. Hopefully someone at Marvel is listening. If there’s any other character besides Daredevil that hasn’t gotten his proper due on screen yet it’s The Punisher. After three attempts by other studios to make films based on the character the rights have reverted back to Marvel so whether this happens or not is entirely up to them.
