“Justice League” recently hit theaters, and heroes such as The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg were finally given a chance to step into the spotlight on the big screen. There’s been a lot of discussion since the film was released about what may or may not have been cut from the movie, and recently a scene featuring Kiersey Clemons’ Iris West leaked online.
Iris West was originally supposed to make her debut in the film, but the final cut didn’t feature her at all, and now it looks like Kiersey Clemons may never debut as Iris West in the DCEU.
A Reddit user who claims to be a VFX artist who worked on “Justice League” noted that the scene featuring Kiersey Clemons was cut because they wanted to insert a woman who wasn’t Iris West.
He went on to say that Clemons was brought on because of Rick Famuyiwa who was originally set to direct the film, but when he departed it opened the door for Warner Bros. to recast her.
“I’ve said before, we were replacing Clemons with a digital woman in the shot – Clemons was brought on because of Famuyiwa, when he bailed, it meant WB could recast her. That’s around the time the shot was cut. Now it’s been leaked online with her in it, they’ll probably stop all the work being done on it to replace her to stop fan backlash.”
Kiersey Clemons certainly seemed excited about playing Iris West, but now it seems that we may never meet her version of the character.
The next stop for Ezra Miller’s Flash is the “Flashpoint” movie, but details on the film are still being kept under wraps at this point.
“Justice League” is in theaters now.
