“Resident Evil” is one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time and the film series starring Milla Jovovich also did well enough at the box office to allow the studio to make six different films. However, the last film was released a few months ago and now Milla’s run is over.

Luckily it doesn’t sound like fans are going to have to wait very long to see a new “Resident Evil” film, as Variety reports that Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, confirmed at the Cannes Film Festival that a reboot is in development. The franchise reboot will reportedly include six films, but plot details are being kept under wraps.

Deadline is also reporting that “Aquaman” director James Wan is also attached to the film as a producer and Greg Russo is set to write the script. Wan and Russo worked previously together on “Mortal Kombat” which is also currently being rebooted by New Line.

The film will also reportedly feature an entirely new cast, but as of this writing there is no director attached.

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” is out now.

The T-virus unleashed by the evil Umbrella Corp. has spread to every corner of the globe, infesting the planet with zombies, demons and monsters. Alice (Milla Jovovich), a former Umbrella employee turned rogue warrior, joins her friends on a last-chance mission to storm the company’s headquarters located deep underneath what used to be Raccoon City. But the Red Queen (Ever Anderson) knows that Alice is coming, and the final battle will determine if the rest of mankind lives or dies.
