It’s been rumored for quite sometime now that Asa Butterfield is the lead contender to be the new Spider-Man. But now The Hollywood Reporter is saying that five other names are also in the mix and Marvel had them all audition in Atlanta on Saturday.
“The actors were flown to Atlanta for the tests; that is where Marvel is currently in production on Civil War, the movie in which the character will be introduced before going on to headline his own hopeful trilogy that will be made by Sony Pictures.” their report mentioned.
The rumored names are:
– Asa Butterfield
– Tom Holland
– Judah Lewis
– Matthew Lintz
– Charlie Rowe
– Charlie Plummer
The Hollywood Reporter also cautioned that there’s a chance Marvel might not use any of the 6 names above and could continue auditions with other actors.
Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal and the Russo Brothers were all on hand for the auditions. One way or another expect a casting announcement soon because “Captain America: Civil War” is in production and it’s all but confirmed that the film will be Spider-Man’s MCU debut.
