The DCEU will be five films deep next week when “Justice League” finally hits theaters, and so far 3 out of 4 films that have been released have been met with mixed reactions.

“Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Suicide Squad” all have their fair share of detractors, but “Wonder Woman” was pretty much universally praised by fans and critics alike.

People associated with the DCEU are well aware of the criticism, and even Henry Cavill recently shared his thoughts on why he feels “Batman v Superman” was such a divisive film.

Now “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer is feeling the heat, as a fan recently decided to tell him he sucks while praising “Wonder Woman.”

Ayer kept things cool while responding to the criticism, and he told the fan to “stay classy” after praising “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins.

Ayer has received a decent amount of backlash from fans who didn’t enjoy “Suicide Squad” but it’s been confirmed that he won’t be directing the sequel.

However, David Ayer is still associated with the DCEU, and he’s attached to “Gotham City Sirens.” When asked why he chose to direct the film over the “Suicide Squad” sequel, Ayer offered the following explanation earlier this year as San Diego Comic Con:

“It’s a story about three fantastic women who’re trying to find their way in the world, and realize that they have more power together than they do individually. I have daughters, and I want to create something that might be able to help them get along in the world a little bit.”

News on a possible production start date for “Gotham City Sirens” has been scarce over the last few months, but it’s believed that the film is still on DC’s release schedule.
