DC Comics has had a lot of success adapting their stories to the small screen and the company is going to be trying their hands at comedy with “Powerless.” The show will focus on characters who work at an insurance agency and process claims having to do with destruction caused by superhero battles.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vanessa Hudgens has been cast to star in the pilot and she’ll play a character named Emily Locke. The description for Emily reads as follows:
“An insurance claims adjuster who loves her job because she gets to help people, Emily likes to fly under the radar and just get her work done. She finds herself increasingly exasperated by the disruptive antics of the various Super Heroes that proliferate in her city.”
Sounds pretty interesting right? Well the first step is getting the pilot down and then the execs at NBC will have to decide if they want to move forward with a full season. Should the show get picked up it’s planned to be a half hour sitcom which would be a change from the one hour format DC is currently using for its TV properties.
The pilot is being written by Ben Queen and it’s set to be directed by Michael Patrick Jann.
