Daniel Craig has had a great run as James Bond, and films such as “Casino Royale” and “Skyfall” are considered by many Bond fans to be some of the best films of the franchise. But Craig’s future as James Bond remains a mystery, and over the past few years people have been fan casting the next 007.
One name that has been brought up continuously is none other than Tom Hardy. Although Hardy’s name has been mentioned quite a few times, he’s remained quiet on the subject. Tom recently spoke to The Daily Beast and he revealed that he’s stayed quiet because he doesn’t want to jinx his chances of getting the coveted role.
“You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone.”
Tom Hardy isn’t ready to talk about the possibility of becoming James Bond, but he had no problem mentioning Christopher Nolan when talking about directors who could potentially breathe new life into the franchise.
“But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie. Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow after. I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound—again.”
It’s hard to argue with Tom Hardy on this subject, and hopefully we’ll see Hardy team up with Christopher Nolan for a 007 film in the future.
