This week’s episode of “Arrow” featured not one, but two big returns that are sure to shake things up on the show going forward.
Following last week’s episode where the experimental steroid Diggle had been taking was destroyed, Curtis developed an experimental drug to replace it. Diggle had a bad reaction to the drug while he was out in the field, and he ended up in the hospital.
Eventually Felicity told Oliver everything about Diggle’s nerve damage, and the drug he had been taking. Oliver told Diggle that he was disappointed, and he left the room after an argument with Diggle.
With Cayden James attempting to attack a Billy Joel concert, and Diggle out of action, Oliver put the suit back on for the first time in a long time, and the original Green Arrow made his return.
At the end of the episode Oliver went back to the hospital to apologize to Diggle. He told him that he will continue to be the Green Arrow while he recovers, but then he told Diggle that he’s the “real Green Arrow” and he wants to give the mantle back to him when he’s ready.
While Oliver was at the hospital a doctor came in the room and told him that Thea had woken up from her coma that she’s been in since the explosion on Lian Yu.
Felicity said that the doctors had used some sort of experimental treatment that isn’t on the market yet to wake up Thea’s brain.
Oliver, Felicity, William and Diggle all had Thanksgiving dinner with Thea in the hospital to end the show.
“Arrow” will return next week on Monday, November 27 as part of the “Crisis On Earth-X” crossover.
