Rick Cosnett played a very important part in “The Flash” season 1. Rick took on the role of Eddie Thawne, a distant relative of Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash.
Unfortunately for Cosnett, Eddie met his untimely death when he sacrificed himself in the season finale by shooting himself so that he could erase the Reverse-Flash from existence. Fans have been waiting for Cosnett to return in possibly another role on the show, but so far it hasn’t happened yet.
Rick was on hand for “The Flash” panel at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest over the weekend, and he revealed that original plans called for him to play a completely different character.
During the panel Rick revealed that the powers that be had thought he was going to play Jay Garrick on the show, but plans changed.

It remains to be seen how that would have worked, and if he would have actually been Jay Garrick, or if a Hunter Zolomon/Zoom like twist would have been involved.
In any case, Rick has yet to return to the show, but Jay Garrick is alive and well. During the season 2 finale it was revealed that Henry Allen’s Earth-3 doppelganger goes by the name of Jay Garrick, and he will be appearing in season 3.
“The Flash” will return for season 3 on Tuesday, October 4.
