“Injustice: Gods Among Us” was one of the most popular fighting games to be released in recent years, and fans have been anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel “Injustice 2.” Luckily fans won’t have to wait all that much longer because it was revealed today that “Injustice 2” will be released on May 16, 2017.

So far Aquaman, Atrocitus, Batman, Blue Beetle, Deadshot, Flash, Gorilla Grodd, Harley Quinn, Supergirl, Superman, Wonder Woman have all been confirmed for the game. More reveals are expected and now that the release date has been announced they will likely be coming sooner than later.

Surely there are more surprises on the way as Ed Boon and Netherealm haven’t been shy about asking fans who they want to see in the game. Back in November Ed Boon asked fans if they would like to see Watchmen characters in “Injustice 2” and the answer was a resounding yes.

Mortal Kombat characters have also been teased and Sub-Zero was the leading favorite when Boon polled fans back in November.

As far as non Mortal Kombat characters go, Spawn seems to be a popular choice.
