One of the big mysteries “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” will reveal is the identity of Star-Lord’s father in the MCU. But it doesn’t look like we’re going to have to wait until the release date to figure out who he is.

El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood is back with another scoop and this time it involves the identity of Peter Quill’s father. Right away he runs down what we know so far. Quill’s father is described as “angelic” and he’s the member of an ancient race that hasn’t been seen for a long time by the Nova Corps. El Mayimbe then goes on to claim that four separate sources who don’t know each other have told him that Peter Quill’s father is the Silver Age Captain Marvel, Kree soldier Mar-Vell. Not to be confused with Carol Danvers.
He then goes on to speculate that the introduction of Mar-Vell will play a big part in the MCU going forward. He also speculates that this is the role Matthew McCounaghey recently turned down.
