Kevin Feige Talks Plans For Spider-Man’s Solo Movie And More

Spider-Man is the name on the lips of every Marvel fan as they await the iconic character’s debut in the MCU. Kevin Feige recently spoke to IGN and expressed just how happy everyone at Marvel is about the fact that they now get to integrate the characters into their films.

“This has been a dream of ours for a long time. We always had contingency plans, which we always do anyway. Are we going to be able to make another deal with this actor? If so, we’re going to do this; if not, we’re going to do this. If we get the rights to a certain character, that’s great; we’re going to do this. If not, we’re going to do this. We always sort of operate under those various alternate timelines available and ready to shift if something happens.” Kevin told IGN.

Kevin went on to emphasize how important it is to Marvel that they get a Spider-Man solo movie right

“the most important thing as a standalone is relaunching Spider-Man in his own standalone movie with his own storylines that fits into this universe. That is job number one for us. … The connectivity is great, but it doesn’t drive the train.” Feige said.

It’s already confirmed that we won’t have to deal with a Spider-Man origin story this time around, so that’s a big step in the right direction. Kevin has also said that Spider-Man’s first standalone film in the MCU will take place during his high school years and compared it to a John Hughe’s film.

As far as villains for the film go, it looks like someone from Spider-Man’s rogues gallery will be making their film debut this time around.

“Right now we’re interested in seeing villains we haven’t seen before,” Feige told SlashFilm back in June.

It’s certainly not a stretch to say that Spider-Man’s solo film is the most anticipated movie in the MCU right now. But we won’t have to wait that long to see the character on the big screen as he’ll be making his Marvel debut in “Captain America: Civil War” on May 27th, 2016.
