HBO has had a lot of success with original shows and it looks like they’re interested in seeing what they can do with the comic book genre. Collider is reporting that HBO is talking to director Zack Snyder about possibly bringing a “Watchmen” TV series to the network. The report doesn’t offer much in the way of details other than saying that Snyder and HBO are currently talking about the idea.
Snyder previously directed the 2009 film adaptation of “Watchmen” which was released to mixed reviews. It remains to be seen what route a TV series could take. There’s always the possibility that the show could be a prequel to the movie and adapt “Before Watchmen” for the small screen. Like we mentioned earlier, “Watchmen” got mixed reviews as it’s a tough story to tell within the format of a movie. Perhaps retelling the story through 12 one hour episodes would suit the narrative better.
Once again though, all Collider can confirm is that the idea is being talked about, it remains to be seen if anything will ever come of it.
