How The Four Way Arrowverse Crossover Will Be Different This Year

The stars of the “Arrowverse” are back to work on their respective sets, and with each passing day we get a little bit closer to the season premieres, as well as the annual crossover event.

Last year the heroes of “Supergirl,” “The Flash,” “Arrow” and DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” all came together to battle the Dominators, and most fans agree that the crossover more than lived up to the hype.

However, fans did have one major complaint in regards to the crossover. The crossover was advertised as a “four night” event, but fans who sat through the episode of “Supergirl” that was supposed to be a part of it learned the episode only loosely tied into the overall story at the very end.

Stephen Amell recently spoke to Comicbook.com during Nashville Heroes & Villains FanFest, and he noted that this year the writing team is looking to use “Supergirl” as more than just a quick lead in to “The Flash.”

“I think the idea this year, from what I understand is, last year they said four-night crossover but in a lot of ways, Supergirl was just kind of a lead in to The Flash, so I think this year they really want to get everyone involved,” Amell said. “It’s not going to be a four-night, well I guess four-night, but Legends and Flash are on the same night. I think they want to get everyone involved in every show. I like having the anchor, we have the anchor this year, Thursday night.”

With “Arrow” moving to Thursdays this year that means the show will be the anchor this year in terms of wrapping everything up with the crossover. Last year “Legends of Tomorrow” featured the epic final battle between the heroes of the “Arrowverse” and the Dominators.

This time around “Arrow” will get the chance to showcase the payoff to all the buildup, and Stephen Amell seems to think the show is in a good spot.

“I would rather be last than first,” Amell noted.

“Arrow” will return on Thursday, October 12.
