When news of a new Arrow/Flash spin off broke Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold was confirmed right away which left many wondering what would happen to Heat Wave. Deadline is now reporting that Dominic Purcell has been confirmed to reprise his role as the character. They wrote the following:
“The new Flash villainous duo of Captain Cold/Heat Wave will be staying intact as Dominic Purcell has joined Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber and Caity Lotz in the superhero team-up show from Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.”
Both Miller and Purcell will continue their post Prison Break on the show which producer Greg Berlanti is calling an homage to team up movies.
“For me, [the spinoff] honors all of the great team up movies, whether it’s Ocean’s Eleven or whether it’s the superhero books,” executive producer Greg Berlanti told EW. “That’s what it’s about. If you go back to the old westerns, there would be The Lone Gunman, but there would also be The Magnificent Seven. It’s very much in the spirit of those kinds of movies and shows.”
