“Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick recently spoke to Collider and they shed a little more light on how Deadpool fits into the larger X-Men universe. They confirmed that the character will be crossing over “sooner or later” and that Professor X is referenced in the film.
“Simon Kinberg is our producer and he kind of minds the store in regards to the X universe, so we are fitting into the larger timeline, we need to recognize that. I mean, we have things like the Blackbirds in the movie, we reference Professor X in the movie. So Deadpool is very much of that world and I think sooner or later we’ll cross over into that world.” Reese said.
Reese also teased something special for the post-credits scene, but he’s not sure if it’s all going to come together.
“We’re planning it. It’s one of those ones that’s gonna require some doing, so it may not come together, and if so, I don’t know, we’ll either do a plan be or none at all. I think we should have one, I mean, we really feel like we should have one.” Reese added.
“Deadpool” opens everywhere February 12, 2016.
