It seems like just yesterday that Marvel announced their partnership with Netflix. But now here we are and two seasons of “Daredevil” have already been released along with one season of “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage” and “Iron First” are on the way as well. Eventually the four heroes will team up to film a Defenders series, and according to Charlie Cox, the series will start filming this year.
“What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome. I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one.” Cox said via The Independent.
Well, that’s certainly good news. If the series starts filming at the end of this year then that means it will likely hit Netflix in 2017. Season 2 of “Daredevil” was released last month and it’s been receiving rave reviews. Shortly after the release of season 1 last year, Marvel and Netflix announced that “Daredevil” would return for season 2. But Charlie Cox says he hasn’t heard anything about whether or not the show will be getting a third season.
“We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three. I certainly don’t know.” Cox told reporters.
He also added that he’s not sure if any of the storylines from “Daredevil” will come into play in The Defenders series. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see.
“Luke Cage” is the next member of The Defender who will be getting his own series and the show will premiere on Netflix September 30th. “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” are available now.
