The “Arrow” season 4 finale aired on Wednesday and it was one to remember that’s for sure. Team Arrow went to war with Damien Darhk and they got a little assist from the citizens of Star City.
The episode kicked off with Damien Darhk invading Oliver’s apartment and threatening Felicity, her mom and Curtis. Oliver made the save but Darhk tried to kill him with magic and then Thea threatened to kill his daughter so he let Oliver go.
Oliver started to lose hope and he started to doubt that he could defeat Oliver Queen then Curtis told him that he was going to leave Star City months ago, but he saw a speech from the Green Arrow on TV and it inspired him to stay. Oliver then went out into the streets where everyone was rioting and looting and he hopped on the roof of a cab. He gave an epic speech about how Star City has survived several disasters over the years and he told everyone that they would survive Genesis. As he was giving his speech Felicity and Curtis diverted a missile that almost hit Star City.
After Oliver’s speech, everyone rallied together and told him how awesome his speech was and they all told him how much it inspired them to save the city. Oliver then showed up at City Hall where Damien Darhk was hiding and he engaged him in battle. Darhk tried to kill Oliver with his magic but he couldn’t do it because Oliver had super awesome magic now that the citizens of Star City believed in him. With his super awesome magic the Green Arrow took on Damien Darhk in battle at the citizens of Star City looked on.
Damien Darhk looked like he had Oliver beat then backup arrived. Diggle and Lyla showed up and Quentin Lance showed up to tell Oliver that he had to help him fight for Star City because his speech kicked ass. The citizens of Star City jumped into the battle and Damien Darhk called in reinforcements from H.I.V.E. The Green Arrow and Damien Darhk continued to battle and the Green Arrow got the upper hand then he pulled out an arrow and prepared to kill Damien Darhk. Damien told him that he couldn’t do it because he couldn’t kill Slade Wilson. Oliver said that with Slade, he had a choice, but Damien Darhk has killed thousands of people and he’s killed people he loved, so he has no choice. Oliver then stabbed him with an arrow and killed him the same way Darhk killed Laurel.
Back at the Arrow lair Quentin Lance tells the team that he has decided to leave Star City for a while. Thea then announces that she’s leaving the team because she needs time away from all of the craziness. Felicity then looks at Oliver and Diggle and gets all pumped about how the original Team Arrow is back. She asks Diggle to give her five and he does.
After Felicity walks away Diggle tells Oliver that he’s taking time away from the team as well. Diggle and Oliver share a bro moment and it’s bittersweet.
All hope looks lost but then Oliver gets a call from someone on the city council who tells him that his awesome speech kicked ass and he asks him for a meeting. He meets with the dude on the city council and it turns out that the dude wants Oliver to be the mayor. Oliver then gets sworn in as the mayor in what was a pretty heartwarming moment.
The show then cuts to Thea who’s looking lonely on a couch and then it cuts to Diggle. Back at his home Diggle is dressed in military gear and he’s packing a bag. His wife looks on disapprovingly and we’re led to believe that Diggle is leaving to serve in the military once again.
Back at the Arrow lair Oliver Queen walks on shards of broken glass because the lair was torn to shreds by H.I.V.E. Felicity shows up and they stand united as the last remaining members of Team Arrow as the season comes to a close.
