When Felicity Smoak was first introduced to the fans of “Arrow” she quickly became a fan favorite. Her fan favorite status dipped quite a bit last season though as the funny, quirky and witty Felicity we came to know and love was gone and a more dramatic and emotional Felicity had taken her place.
It’s no big secret that “Arrow” is going for a lighter tone this year which means we can expect Felicity to be a much better source of humor in season 4. Producer Marc Guggenheim did note that Felicity is back “with a vengeance” in the new season.
“[Emily Bett Rickards is] on the top of her game. She’s hysterical. We’re definitely writing jokes for her, but she’s also finding humor in lines that weren’t intentionally humorous.” Guggenheim told TVLine.
When asked if we’ll see Felicity’s father this season, Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim were apprehensive.
“We’re hoping,” executive producer Wendy Mericle said. Marc Guggenheim then added “We’re always talking about it, but we have to find the right story and the right moment. We trust that it will come to us when it’s meant to come to us.”
There is a big fan theory going around that’s singled out new big bad Damien Darhk as possibly being Felicity’s father. We’ll have to wait and see what happens as the season progresses. “Arrow” returns on October 7th.
