“Arrow” is set to return for season 5 in the fall, and several new actors will be joining the show. One of the actors who has signed on to be a part of season 5 is none other than Dolph Lundgren.
It’s been confirmed that the flashbacks in season 5 will take place in Russia, and we will finally found out more about Oliver Queen’s history with the Bratva. Lundgren is set to play the “big bad” in the flashbacks, and he will have ties to someone Oliver became close with in the season 4 flashbacks.
“[Dolph’s character] is a government strongman,” showrunner Wendy Mericle told TV Line. “He is scary and formidable — and he had a role in some stuff with Taiana’s family last season. He’s a bit of a badass.”
After season 4 “Arrow” star Stephen Amell had said that he hoped to see the show return to its roots in season 5 and it sounds like that’s the direction the show is going.
Wendy Mericle also noted the show will go really “gritty” and “dark” when exploring Oliver’s history with the Bratva.
“Arrow” will return for season 5 on Wednesday, October 5th.
