Over the course of the last few years we’ve seen Team Flash go up against some formidable foes, and right now they’re trying their best to get one step ahead of The Thinker.
When we last left Barry Allen, he had been framed for the murder of Clifford DeVoe, and the aftermath will be addressed next week in “The Trial of The Flash.”
The week after that the spotlight will be on Ralph Dibny in the upcoming episode titled “The Elongated Man Rises.”
It appears that Barry will still be preoccupied with his trial by the time the episode airs, and the official synopsis is teasing that we’ll be seeing a “familiar villain.” The synopsis reads as follows:
“THE RISE OF THE HERO — When a familiar villain returns to terrorize Central City, Ralph (guest star Hartley Sawyer) must rise up to defend the innocent while Barry (Grant Gustin) is detained by his trial. Meanwhile, Barry searches for the strength to keep his optimism alive in the face of his new circumstances. Alexandra La Roche directed the episode written by Sterling Gates & Thomas Pound (#411). Original airdate 1/23/2018.”
