Thea Queen has been a big part of “Arrow” ever since the first episode, and she played a big role in organizing Oliver’s campaign for mayor in season 4.
The campaign might not have seemed like a success at the time, but at the end of season 4 we found out that Oliver had been sworn in as mayor of Star City. Oliver Queen is going to have his hands full in season 5 because he’ll be training a new Team Arrow while he tries to fulfill his duties as mayor.
Luckily Oliver will be getting some help from Thea this time around as well, because executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently revealed to EW that she will be Oliver’s chief of staff.
“What we’ve done is we made her Oliver’s chief of staff,” Marc Guggenheim said. “Perhaps, to her own surprise, she’s actually really, really good at it. All the skills that she learned by watching her mother for all those years, as well as running Verdant, she’s found very transferrable to City Hall, and in many ways, she’s a much better chief of staff than Oliver is a mayor.”
It sounds like Thea Queen will most likely be running the show at City Hall, despite the fact that Oliver himself is the mayor. It should be interesting to see how that dynamic works.
“Arrow” returns for season 5 on Wednesday, October 5.
