It was recently reported that Mark Gibbon has been cast as General Zod, and it’s presumed that he will be appearing in the season finale. Now “Supergirl” producer Andrew Kreisberg has confirmed to TV Line that General Zod will indeed be appearing. TV Line shared the following preview for the upcoming episode:

“In addition to meeting the infamous General Zod, viewers should keep an eye out for some returning favorites as the season comes to a climax. “With the return of Superman and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart first resurfaces on May 15), we are poised for our biggest most exciting episode of the season,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says. “Big fights, big guest stars, big emotion — it’s going to be amazing.”

Now that Superman and General Zod have both been confirmed for the “Supergirl” season finale, it seems that we’re all but guaranteed to see them do battle in a few weeks time.

The “Supergirl” season finale will air on the CW on Monday, April 22nd.

Superman didn’t stick around very long, but viewers seemed to enjoy Tyler Hoechlin’s portrayal. With Geoff Johns recently announcing that a new DC TV show is in the works, some fans have been hopeful that we man see a Superman spinoff, but according to CW President Mark Pedowitz there are no plans in place to make it happen at the moment.

“Tyler did a great job,” Pedowitz noted at the Television Critics Association’s press tour on Sunday. “There’s no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to Supergirl]. If they wish to have him return, we’d love to have him.”

There are no plans in place for a Superman spinoff at the moment, but the idea hasn’t been ruled out. “Supergirl” executive producer Greg Berlanti was also asked about a potential spinoff, and while he stressed that there’s nothing in the plans right now, Berlanti noted that all things are possible.

We’d love to have Tyler back, he’s amazing, he was great in the role. In success, I think all those things are possible. I’m always the guy who says ‘yes’ if there seems to be an appetite for it and the people involved are really nice.”

“Supergirl” will return with new episodes on January 23.

To hype up the premiere the CW has released an action packed clip which gives us our first glimpse at the Supergirl/Superman team up. In the clip Superman sees a breaking news report about an aircraft falling from the sky, and Supergirl sees it too. They both take to the skies to try and save the day, and that’s when they run into each other.

The two Kryptonian cousins then decide to team up and attempt to save the day, and you can see how it all goes down in the clip below.

The CW has released the official synopsis for “Last Children of Krypton” which will be the second episode of the new season and you can check it out below.

IAN GOMEZ STARS AS SNAPPER CARR — CADMUS attacks National City with a kryptonite powered villain who ends up seriously hurting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin) blames Hank (David Harewood) because the kryptonite was stolen from the DEO. Meanwhile, Kara’s first day at her new job doesn’t go as planned after she meets her new boss, Snapper Carr (guest star Ian Gomez). Glen Winter directed the episode written by Robert Rovner & Caitlin Parrish (SG202). Original airdate 10/17/2016.

“Supergirl” season 2 will premiere on the CW on Monday, October 13.

Tyler Hoechlin recently spoke to EW about what it was like for him when he auditioned for the role, and he revealed that there wasn’t an audition.

“Honestly, it was the strangest thing — there wasn’t an audition,” Hoechlin told EW. “I had a great meeting with [executive producers] Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg [in June]. I had been told that the meeting would have something to do with Supergirl, but nothing really specific.”

“Halfway through, they brought up the idea of introducing Superman to the show and asked if I’d be interested. I said, ‘Yeah, absolutely. I’m obviously a fan.’ I believe that was on a Monday. On Friday, we got a call with the offer, so it was very quick. It was very flattering, and I wish every job came about that way.”

According to Hoechlin his version of Superman will honor the character without emulating any of the actors who have played Superman in the past. The actor says that he avoided watching old Superman films after he was cast because he didn’t want to be tempted to imitate anyone else.

The Joker was hyped up quite a bit leading up to the film’s premiere, and now that the movie is out people have been talking about what Leto brought to the table with his interpretation of the character.

The Joker was only in “Suicide Squad” for about 7 minutes worth of screen time, but he’ll likely be making appearances in future DC films, and IGN recently asked Jared Leto how he feels about The Joker meeting Superman.

Leto joked that his version of The Joker would have a good time messing with Superman.

“Superman seems like a lot of fun though for the Joker,” Leto said. “The Joker and Superman would be interesting to see onscreen because Superman’s so stoic and morally centered. I think that the Joker would really enjoy that. Superman is a classic hero and The Joker opposite any classic hero would be really interesting.”

At this point Superman and The Joker haven’t crossed paths in the DC film universe but it doesn’t seem unlikely at all for them to come together possibly in a future “Justice League” or DC event movie.

There certainly isn’t a lack of Superman on the big screen at the moment, but Superman hasn’t had his own solo film since “Man of Steel” was released in 2013 and Warner Bros. have kept quiet when it comes to sequel announcements.

The good news is, it looks like Superman will likely be getting another solo adventure at some point because The Wrap is now reporting that a “Man of Steel” sequel is being put into active development by Warner Bros.

At this point there’s no information regarding a release date for the sequel, but a source close to The Wrap reportedly informed them that the film is a top priority for Warner Bros.

DC has announced release dates for standalone features based on each “Justice League” character with the exception of Batman and Superman. It’s worth noting that Warner Bros. plans to release two DC films that have yet to be announced with release dates of October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019.

“Justice League” will hit theaters on November 17, 2017.

“Supergirl” is making the big jump to the CW this fall and Superman is coming with her.

It was recently announced that Tyler Hoechlin will be playing Kal-El in the series and the CW also recently released the first photo of Hoechlin in costume. Seeing Tyler in costume is cool, but one Twitter user took things to the next level by filming videos of Superman from the “Supergirl” set.

The videos were shot at the Vancouver set and they show a few different scenes. In one of the videos some fans stop Superman to take a picture with him and a few of the videos show Superman jumping up, up and away to take flight.

Screen Junkies take aim at “Superman Returns” and point the fact that well, nothing really happens in the film. It’s two and a half hours of waiting around for nothing. Unfortunately the movie wasn’t all that great and Brandon Routh’s Superman didn’t really get the chance to get off the ground. But Brandon Routh is kicking ass as The Atom in DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” and Superman is part of the DCEU, so all’s well that ends well right?
