Ronda Rousey Says She’s Always Wanted To Be Samus Aran, Talks Possible Metroid Movie

Ronda Rousey may be the baddest woman on the planet but she’s also a huge fan of video games. She recently spoke to GameSpot to promote the upcoming release of “UFC 2” and she gushed a little bit about her love for games.

At one point Rousey was asked if there are any video game movies she would like to potentially be the star of. Rousey then revealed that she would love to play Samus Aran from the “Metroid” series.

“I’ve always wanted to be Samus. That would be badass. I love how people found out later that it was a hot chick on the inside. And then most of the day you’re in a suit, so you can just hang out and eat donuts and be the star of Metroid. I hope they make a movie out of that.” Rousey said.

Samus Aran is one of the most iconic women in video game history so those are certainly some big shoes to fill. As we all know video game movies haven’t been very successful, but movies like “Warcraft” and “Assassin’s Creed” are hoping to change that. Nintendo has also said that they’re more open to the idea of adapting their properties for film. So it’s always possible that a Metroid movie goes into development at some point.

With that being said, there’s still no confirmation that a Metroid film will ever be made. But if one is created  at some point in the future, the powers that be know they can call on Ronda Rousey to be their Samus if they’re interested.

Although Metroid’s future on the big screen remains a mystery, the people at Rainfall Films put together a great fan film a few months ago. If you’re a Metroid fan and you haven’t seen it yet you can check it out below. It might be the closest you ever get to see a Metroid movie.
