“Power Rangers” hit theaters earlier this year, and although the film didn’t do so hot at the box office, there’s still hope that the film could get a sequel. Originally Lionsgate and Saban had plans to launch a franchise, and during a recent chat with ScreenRant, director Dean Israelite said that the possibility of a sequel being made is currently being discussed.

“I hope so. It’s obviously not up to me, but I know the studio (Lionsgate) and Saban are talking in earnest about it, and are trying to push forward. They’re having a discussion.”

Power Rangers fans all over the world are hoping that the sequel will get the green light from the studio, as there are still quite a few elements from the Power Rangers mythos that people want to see on the big screen.

Rita Repulsa was the main villain of “Power Rangers” and Dean Israelite told Comicbook.com that he wants to introduce Lord Zedd if the sequel is made.

“Well Lord Zedd is the obvious choice, I think, in a good way. Ya know, there was a time when we were talking about Lord Zedd being in this movie. And it just felt like we didn’t have the real estate for it and I didn’t want to dilute our villains. So we kind of went all in on Rita.”
